The District Magistrate of Patna, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Avkash Kumar, announced that the 76th Republic Day celebrations will be organized with grandeur and meticulous planning. The main state function will be held at the historic Gandhi Maidan, with all preparations conducted in line with established standards by the district administration.
The officials addressed a briefing at Gandhi Maidan, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order, ensuring effective crowd management, and executing seamless traffic arrangements.
The DM and SSP highlighted that Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four sectors and further sub-sectors as necessary for efficient management. Senior officials, including Additional District Magistrates and Deputy Superintendents of Police, have been assigned supervisory roles in each sector.
To maintain law and order, 113 magistrates have been deployed across 71 locations in and around Gandhi Maidan, including the Kargil Memorial. This team includes four Sector Magistrates. Each magistrate has been paired with police officers for cohesive functioning. Security forces, including women personnel, baton units, and other police contingents, will also be on duty.
Officials and personnel have been instructed to report to their assigned posts promptly and remain stationed until the crowd has dispersed. Sector officers have been tasked with ensuring strict adherence to these instructions. Senior magistrates will conduct on-the-spot briefings with their teams to ensure coordination and preparedness.
The District Control Room has been set up to function in three shifts, with 22 senior magistrates and police officers on duty. A temporary police station, a control room, 18 watchtowers, and three Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been established to maintain vigilance across the area.
The DM and SSP emphasized the importance of robust crowd management, reinforced security measures, and smooth traffic operations. Entry for the general public will be allowed through Gate Numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 at Gandhi Maidan. Special surveillance measures will be in place to monitor anti-social elements, with QRTs on standby to address any emergencies.
To enhance security, 128 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around Gandhi Maidan. The cameras, including fixed, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ), and analytic types, will provide comprehensive coverage. Activities will be monitored in real time from the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCCC).
The DM directed officials to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure all necessary precautions are taken. Regular briefings and inter-departmental coordination were stressed as critical components of the overall plan.
The public has been advised to report any issues or emergencies by contacting the 24×7 District Control Room at 0612-2219810 / 2219234 or by dialing 112.
The DM concluded by urging officials to remain proactive, committed, and vigilant to ensure the success of the Republic Day celebrations. The SSP emphasized that maintaining law and order is of utmost priority, with all personnel instructed to follow protocols diligently.
The preparations reflect the district administration’s focus on creating a secure and well-organized environment for one of India’s most significant national celebrations.
