In a significant development, the Bihar Police has constituted a special team to investigate the recent robbery at the Tanishq showroom in Purnia, where approximately 2 crore worth of jewelry was looted. The incident occurred on July 26, 2024, under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station.
Upon receiving the information, senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Purnia Range and the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Purnia, promptly reached the crime scene to conduct a detailed investigation.
To expedite the resolution of the case, three dedicated teams have been formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar. The DIG of Purnia Range has directed the SPs of Araria and Katihar districts to assist in the investigation. Additionally, police officers from neighboring districts have been contacted for support, and the West Bengal Police is also providing assistance.
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts continuously working to gather crucial evidence. The Special Task Force (STF), comprising highly skilled officers, has been deployed to ensure the swift identification and arrest of the culprits. CCTV footage from the showroom is being meticulously reviewed to gather further clues.
In a bid to encourage public cooperation, a reward of 3 lakh rupees has been announced by the police headquarters for information leading to the arrest of the criminals involved in the robbery. Additional Director General (ADG) of STF, Mr. Amrit Raj, has arrived in Purnia to monitor the ongoing investigation and coordinate efforts to apprehend the suspects. In a related effort to bolster security, a comprehensive audit of jewelry showrooms and shops in Patna district was conducted under the directives of the DIG and Senior SP of Patna. Led by the SDPO, police officers and personnel inspected various establishments, interacted with jewelry shop owners, and provided necessary guidelines to enhance security measures.
The authorities are committed to resolving the case promptly and ensuring the arrest of the perpetrators involved in this significant robbery.
