On the occasion of National Handloom Day, the Department of Fashion Designing, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organized “SUTRADARA – The Handloom Ramp Walk” on 7th August 2026. The event celebrated India’s rich handloom heritage while promoting experiential learning, sustainable fashion, and innovation in handloom-based design. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shemushi Madhu, HOD, Department of Fashion Designing, Dr. Geetanjali Choudhary, Coordinator, and Dr. Shazia Husain HOD, Department of Home Science. The highlight was a three-round ramp walk presentation:

Round 1:
GRAMEEN GLAM showcased innovative garments using Bihar’s iconic handloom ‘Gamchha’, focusing on sustainability and rural craftsmanship.
Round 2:
INDO-WESTERN featured fusion ensembles blending traditional handloom with contemporary western silhouettes.


Round 3:
SAREE DRAPING demonstrated regional and contemporary draping styles, highlighting the saree as a living heritage.
The event provided students a platform to apply concepts of handloom and design.
All faculty members of the Department of Fashion Designing and Home Science were present and extended their support to make the event successful. A total of 90 students participated in the event.
